Definitions and Types
Phobias: an irrational fear of something, someone or some object. It is illogical and unreasonable as in some situations there is no reason for fear. They are classified in 3 groups:
- Agoraphobia – the intense fear of open spaces and/or public areas.
- Social phobia – the intense fear of being in social situations. People actively avoid them and feel judged whenever they are in one.
- Specific phobias – the intense fear of a certain thing. These are divided in 4 further types: nature, animal, medical and situational.
Examples
I’m still working to find good examples but I can recommend to use any from friends/family members you know and perhaps explain their emotions/behaviours/reactions when the fear is mentioned or when they come into contact with it.
Also, the Little Hans phobia (Freud, 1909) we studied in AS Level can be useful to explain how it was cured.

Can I use Little Han’s case study as an example?

Yes you can. I also found this case study of Olaf Hendricks – here’s a link for the quizlet where I found it, it is on the second last card of the list 🙂
